Our Love Story
The Garcia’s and Rubiano’s have been dear friends and church companions since 2005.
Kim would occasionally visit Justinn's house to hang out with his sister. Justinn saw Kim as just his sister's friend, and Kim saw Justinn as her friend’s older brother.
As Kim got older (being the sweetheart she is), she would always pop by Justinn's Facebook every year to wish him a Happy Birthday for a whole decade. Justinn, in return, would just say "thanks" because it's the polite thing to do. And that pretty much sums up their entire relationship, besides those random interactions that no one even remembers.
These two had no idea that their lives were about to take a major turn. Kim and Justinn hung out in groups a bit in 2020 and 2021, but things really changed when Kim got invited on a family trip to British Columbia. Kim ended up riding on the back of a quad bike driven by Justinn, and they had a blast despite all the smoke from the forest fires. They became good friends during their trip to Radium and had an unforgettable time up in the mountains. Of course, they had to snap tons of photos and videos to remember the weekend by!
When Kim got back from her trip, she hopped on Instagram and saw that Justinn had posted a story from the weekend. She left a comment on his story, and ever since then, they've been talking every day without fail.
So, Justinn, who was pretty bold, told Kim he liked her. But, surprise surprise, she didn't feel the same way. But Justinn wasn't ready to give up. He stuck around because he figured having Kim in his life, even just as friends, was better than not having her at all. Little did he know, he was slowly melting her icy heart (lol). They started going on casual dates, hanging out, and before you know it, Justinn managed to escape the friend zone! It was like a miracle!
As they spent more time together, they realized they were best friends. They just clicked right from the start. They talked about everything, laughed together all the time, and had this ongoing joke about putting black rocks in that blue Dutch sugar cookie tin that's usually filled with sewing stuff. Cute, right?
One day, Justinn finally realized he couldn't go on without Kim. So, he went out and bought an engagement ring and popped the question to her in Banff. It's a place that means a lot to both of them. Justinn took the engagement ring and put it in a cookie tin filled with those black rocks they always laughed about. Then, he asked Kim to marry him in the same spot where he first asked her out, with a beautiful view of the Banff Fairmont Hotel.
They've come a long way with tons of growth, love, laughter, and a bajillion memories. They're pumped to party with everyone and see what's next!
